Finding one’s shadow in ruins and rubble, 2014 Lam Son series, 2015
Easter offensive series, 2015

For transHISTORY, Tiffany Chung links important historical events to her personal family history. This multimedia installation refers to the effects of three disasters: the earthquake that devastated Kobe, Japan, in 1995; the current conflict in Syria; and the battlefields of the Vietnam War. These detailed works show us a complex layering of topographies of different historical periods, which contain predictions for the future as well as her utopian vision, without any judgment.

Tiffany Chung is one of the most well-known artists from Vietnam. She is known for her topographical drawings and installations. Chung researches geographical shifts in countries that have been traumatized by war, human destruction, and natural disasters. She focuses on growth, decay, and the disappearance of cities, as well as related issues such as urban development, environmental disasters, and humanitarian crises.
